THE ROOFTOP

it's rooftop season

The Rooftop at The Embassy Row Hotel underwent a complete renovation and redesign. It's the only rooftop pool and bar in Dupont Circle. It was a hidden gem in Washington, D.C. and lacked brand awareness. To establish a brand for this newly renovated space and reach our target demographic, I spearheaded The Rooftop's branding and organized an integrated marketing and PR plan, including the well-known programming for The Rooftop. The designer, HVS Design, allowed me to play a role in the design and decor; to fully create the experience, I was heavily involved in the selection of music, creation of the cocktail list and food menu. 

THE RESULTS

In the first season, I developed The Rooftop's first-ever membership program. I initiated and established a partnership with a national brand, ONEHOPE Wine. We launched a social media contest "Summer Wine Down" to generate buzz; the contest resulted in 1,255 Facebook likes, and over 100 photo submissions.

In season two, we defied the odds by utilizing a resort model and successfully developed a programming calendar with daily events to activate this urban oasis. Our ever-famous programming calendar ranged from weekend rooftop yoga with a local yoga studio, silent disco dance parties, and hooky Friday. These events have been covered by the likes of The Washington Post (magazine, print, digital) and Spa Magazine. Over holiday weekends, I partnered with iHeart Radio to create special holiday weekend programming.

Top homerun placements have included Today.com, Thrillist, Zagat, Forbes Travel Guide, Brightest Young Things, Eater, T+L online, BRIDES.com, USA Today, M&C Magazine, and Washingtonian Magazine.
