creating value
The International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) is a global community of venues that deliver exceptional meeting experiences. The association offers a board position to one young professional a year. I was nominated by my Director of Sales and voted by my colleagues in IACC to be the Board Associate for 2012 - 2013. In this role, I held a position on the Board of Directors, led the Emerging Trends Committee which included a group of 20 millennials across the country, managed event marketing for IACC's Annual Conference, and was lucky enough to travel around the country to IACC properties. The association was struggling to generate conference attendance after the recession and to retain and attract members, they needed to offer more value to their members.
THE RESULTS
As the conference marketing chair, I led our team through strategic pricing, packaging and a timely integrated marketing campaign. Not only did we meet our goal, but we reached numbers we hadn't seen since 2008. During my role on the Board of Directors, I produced two significant resources for the hospitality industry: The Social Media Guide for Resorts, Hotels, and Conference Centers and a case study in partnership with Development Counsellors International, Generational Buying Preferences in the Meetings Industry. Both were presented at the the International Association of Conference Centers' annual conference.
